This family needs help after their baby was born with a rare heart condition
This family really needs assistance with rent. Last year, their daughter was born with an extremely rare heart condition that has changed their lives. For the past year they have been paying out of pocket for a ton of medical expenses for their daughter. Fortunately, she was able to get approved for Medicaid in May/June. This heartbreaking situation left the family struggling to cover regular bills on top of medical bills. Additionally, mom and dad have been spending a lot of money traveling back and forth to be with their daughter as she just had another heart surgery earlier this week. During the period of time that they were paying out of pocket medical expenses, their bills piled up. Because their landlord was understanding, they let rent get behind by several months. They have been paying as much as they can weekly, but the dad just got let go from his full time his job 2 weeks ago. He has filed for unemployment and is waiting to hear if he qualifies, and in the meantime is trying to find other work. His wife cannot work, as she is a stay at home mom of 4 young children. They are now behind around $3,700. Their monthly rent is $1,400. They have been referred to all of the local community resources, and hopefully 211 will be able to cover a large sum (but it probably won’t be paid out before December/January,) and in the meantime the bills are still rolling in. Hopefully, he finds a new job or his unemployment kicks in soon as well. Anything to help this family is greatly appreciated.
