This couple was scammed and now they are homeless
This man and his girlfriend were living in a shared, subletted housing situation where they were paying rent, $1,300 a month, to the subletting "landlord." Apparently, this person never paid the money to the actual landlord/owner, and instead just pocketed it. This resulted in all of the tenants living there getting evicted. Now, with their unexpected homelessness, they have been living in their car and staying a few days with friends while they are trying to save up enough money to get into an apartment of their own. They found a 1 bed 1 bath apartment to rent in Kootenai that is only $500 a month with a deposit of $250 and application fee of $75. It is available as of Thursday, 12/18/25. He works as a maintenance man for several rental companies in town, and his partner works as a housekeeper, so they have income to be sustainable moving forward. The only reason they're needing financial assistance right now is because they have essentially been living paycheck to paycheck, and had no expectation of losing their housing like this. If they could get one-time assistance to get into this apartment, they could easily pay the monthly rent on their own moving forward as it is less than half of what they were paying before. They are able to pay the $250 deposit and $75 application fee, they just need help with the first month’s rent.
You can donate $25 - $500 by adjusting the quantity.
Thank you SO much for any help you can provide!
