This is an older woman in her 70s who lives in a 1977 trailer that was her family’s home. She owes $490.00 per month on a small mortgage and only brings in $1,100.00 per month on Social Security. She had electric and gas bills total $400.00 last month and by the end of this winter her outstanding electric/ gas bills required payment and left her without money for her mortgage. She was told that she has to pay the amount by 3/25 or she will face foreclosure, which is devastating for her. She was working as of two years ago at a grocery store but a car accident and an unsuccessful bunion surgery left her unable to stand for long periods of time. Her case manager is also working with her to see if she can get the trailer better insulated to help reduce the cost of gas/electricity in the winter months.
