An elderly disabled man needs help with rent. He is disabled due to jobs that required heavy lifting throughout his life. He can’t stand up for long and uses a walker to get around his older trailer he rents from low income housing. He spent many years teaching math and science in remote villages in Alaska but has ended up only making $1,024.00 a month social security and lives alone. He is short $440.00 on his rent this month due to high heating bills this winter that finally caught up to him. He gets some assistance for utility bills but it’s not enough. He doesn’t own a car to save money and only has a cell phone from Walmart. He will be evicted if he doesn’t come up with the rent due. His case manager has requested assistance from another community agency as well, so we’re hoping to work together to cover this for him.
