UPDATE: She received an eviction notice today and we currently don’t have enough to cover what she needs. She is reaching out to other local organizations that require an eviction notice to see if they can help now. We’re hoping to combine resources to prevent eviction. Any help is greatly appreciated!
A woman who is almost 50 recently lost her job and needs help with rent until she can find another job. She is diabetic and was working the front desk at a local casino. She had a beep on her phone about her blood sugar and looked at her phone to check and was fired for using her phone. She is unable to pay all of her rent this month and needs help if she is to stay in her rental. She and her 17 year old son (who is deaf in one ear) live together and he pays for other bills such as gas, car repairs, and cell phones through his job at a fast food restaurant. She has applied for multiple jobs and feels that she will get the one at Walmart, but she hasn’t heard back yet. Her case manager is helping them get utility and phone assistance, food at the food bank, plus they are on several waiting lists for low income housing which her son qualifies for. The total rent is $900 and she was able to come up with $300, so there is $600 remaining. Any assistance to help this family stay housed until they regain stability is greatly appreciated.
