Help a woman gain independence

NEED MET

This person is in a really difficult and defeated spot. She recently filed for divorce from her ex husband who is very verbally abusive to her. However, due to her limited income, she still has had to live in their home, and it has been wrecking havoc on her mental health. They still technically own the home together, and her SSI is under $1,000 a month, so she can't even afford to get into an apartment right now until they decide on selling it or he buys her out.

She did not know what she was entitled to in the divorce when she first filed. Through help from her church, she realized that her ex husband has a 401k distribution that she is entitled to that she didn't have in her original divorce paperwork. So, they are working on getting her that income she is entitled to.

At this time, she is in the process of moving out, and will be going to live with her daughter if she absolutely needs to. She has lived in her home for over 30 years, and it is basically an entire estate worth of belongings that she wants to relocate away from her ex husband so he doesn't do anything to them. All of her mother's and family's heirlooms are a part of this collection. This is a devastating life change for her.

She needs help opening a storage unit and getting a Uhaul to begin the process of moving out. She has people who will help her move, so she just needs help with the financial piece. She gets her SSI check on the 3rd, and will cut corners as necessary elsewhere to make sure she can keep the unit until she gets the divorce modification finalized and can afford an apartment of her own with the 401k distribution.

Opening the storage unit and helping pay for the Uhaul would be incredibly helpful for her to get out of the situation. She is also reaching out to other community partners to see if they might be able to cover part of the cost.

You can donate $50 - $300 by adjusting the quantity.
