Help a family with 6 kids keep their water on
These parents and their 6 children relocated to Oldtown due to finding an affordable rental that let them move in with their deposit on a payment plan. Unfortunately, as soon as their landlord found out their elderly father was going to also live with them, he raised the rent another $200. They have 6 children, and they drive together to Spokane daily M-F for their jobs. They are barely making ends meet, especially due to having the 6 children and rising costs of food, etc. They have been referred to 211 for rental assistance for some longer term help getting their deposit payments paid off, which will free up money for other bills.
Their immediate concern right now is their water bill. When they moved in they got the water bill switched to their name, but their bill didn't arrive until 2 months later after it had been processed, which was a surprise, along with a shutoff notice for "non-payment." They successfully got it extended, and came to Sandpoint recently to stop at Helping Hands Healing Hearts, and they pledged $75 toward it. But, they are struggling to pay the remaining $207. They contacted the Salvation Army and are waiting for a call back to see if they can help cover part of it as well.
