An elderly couple on a fixed income needs help getting groceries

This client is an 80-year-old man who was seeking assistance with a $63 payment to get his car from Perfection Tire. He relies on Social Security and his funds have run out for the month because his car broke down and it cost over $400 to repair. While traveling to Spokane for an appointment with his wife, his vehicle had a blow up. While he was able to get it towed and repaired here, but Perfection Tire is holding the vehicle until the balance of $63 is paid in full. In the meantime, he is borrowing a vehicle until Saturday from his daughter. His daughter was able to cover part of it and we were able to use our general funds to cover the remaining $63 so he could get his car back before the weekend. This situation left him with $0 left for the month. He went to the food bank, but he’s going to need help getting groceries for the rest of the month. We are hoping to provide him with a $150 grocery card to help him and his wife get through the month.
