A victim needs help keeping her and her son safe
This person is a recent victim of domestic violence who has been displaced due to the divorce. After an incident of violence in May, where her soon-to-be ex-husband threatened to kill her, she called the police, and he was forced to leave, but he still had access to their home. Not only did he promptly withdraw everything from their joint savings account, so she was left without any of their means, she has drained every last bit of her own savings trying to get back on her feet since then. She has had to secure a new, safe rental that her husband doesn’t have access to, paying both a new deposit and first month’s rent, and is being saddled with the financial burden of move-out costs from the previous rental, all the while having to also retain an attorney to maintain custody of her 7 year old son. At this time, she receives no financial support from her ex while the custody court process unfolds. In addition, he took their family vehicle, forcing her to have to get another vehicle on top of it all. She is in desperate need of assistance, as the financial burden and emotional toll is overwhelming for her. She is a hardworking, full-time local business owner and community member who is doing her best to keep herself and her son safe. Any financial assistance towards her rent is greatly appreciated.
Note: It often takes survivors of domestic violence several attempts before they are able to successfully leave an abusive situation, largely because of the financial burden. Providing financial assistance in these times can be the difference between the victim and children staying safe and healing from the trauma, or becoming homeless or returning to the abuser.
Any help is much appreciated!
